Senior Java Developer

The job involves the development of a physical access control system for the Department of Defense. This project requires skills in multiple software development areas including hardware integration, mobile cross platform development, web development, desktop application development, and even AD integration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Java applications
  • Work with business analysts and business representatives to define & clarify requirements, perform detailed analysis, develop detailed designs, and implement robust, maintainable solutions that meet the business requirements.
  • Define and implement development best practices including secure coding, adequate unit testing, code quality checks, automated build processes, and continuous integration.
  • Partner with the Release Management team to plan product releases for maximized business agility and work with IT operations to ensure a sustained production environment.
  • Provide accurate level-of-effort estimates on new initiatives or change requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of demonstrable Java development experience.
  • Hands-on experience developing Java based systems with frameworks like Spring. Experience with SDLC and Agile SCRUM development methodology.
  • Experience using databases like Oracle Database 12g, CouchDB, MongoDB, and MySQL.
  • Experience writing SQL queries, PL/SQL, and database schema design is desirable.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and leveraging development best practices.
  • MUST BE U.S. citizen who is eligible for a federal security clearance

Due to regulatory security criteria, all candidates must have a U.S. Citizenship. You must have the ability to posses and maintain a clearance with the U.S Government. Desired: Have a Secret Clearance or higher.
